Diamond drilling is a form of core drilling
Diamond drilling is a form of core drilling which uses a rotary drill with a diamond drill bit attached, in order to create precisely measured holes. Diamond drilling is suitable for almost any working environment. As it is a non-percussive technique, structural integrity is maintained around when drilling. In diamond core drilling we use a diamond bit, which rotates at the end of drill rod. The opening at the end of the diamond bit allows a solid column of rock to move up into the drill pipe and be recovered at the surface. Core drilling is used frequently in mineral exploration where the coring may be even one kilometer in depth.

Core drilling using the Devidrill method
Core drilling is facilitated using our Devidrill branching method that allows directing the drill hole in the required direction. Multiple branches can also be made in the drill hole. This is a cost-effective way of exploring a larger area using the mother-hole when the area to be studied lies at a depth of nearly a kilometer or more.
How can we obtain representative core samples?
A representative core sample is vitally important for e.g. determining ore content and rock characteristics. Making careful choices, such as the use of drilling additives, the samples can be protected from washing and therefore improve sample yield percentages. We study the additives carefully and choose the best for the application, and those that put less strain on the environment. Other tool selections assist in obtaining good samples. All these factors combined with the high competence of the rig operator ensure favourable results.
